He moved the first piece and watched Sergievsky. What was he doing here? Shouldn't it have been easier for him to ignore the game than play against Sergievsky? Well, maybe not. The game had made him money, sure, but he'd never started out to get rich. He'd started out because of the love of the game and somewhere along the way...things had gotten muddled, but there had always been the love.

It was love that had him sitting here. Of chess, not Sergievsky.
